Gate Kits Single & Double (Pressed Steel)

Pressed steel gate kits are hardware packages used to assemble and install gates, typically for chain-link or ornamental steel fencing. These kits use "pressed steel"—steel that has been machine-formed into specific shapes—which is often galvanized or powder-coated to provide rust protection and durability.

Single Pressed Steel Gate Kits

Single gate kits are designed for "walk" or pedestrian gates consisting of a single moving leaf. They are engineered for efficiency in smaller openings where space is limited.

Typical Components

  • Hinges (2): Usually includes two sets of hinges—a male post hinge that attaches to the terminal post and a female frame hinge that attaches to the gate frame.
  • Fork Latch: A standard gravity-style latch that catches onto the gate post to keep the panel closed.
  • Gate Corners: In some assembly-heavy kits, four pressed steel corners are included to join the vertical and horizontal frame pipes without welding.
  • Hardware Fasteners: All necessary carriage bolts and nuts to secure the components.

Double Pressed Steel Gate Kits

Double gate kits (or "double drive" kits) are used for wider openings like driveways where two gate panels meet in the middle. Because they lack a central post, they require specialized hardware to bridge the gap and provide stability.

Typical Components

  • Hinges : Four sets of hinges (top and bottom for each panel) to support the weight and movement of both leaves.
  • Double Gate Latch: Often a butterfly latch or an industrial fork latch assembly designed to connect two moving frames rather than a frame and a post.
  • Additional Fasteners: Includes a larger quantity of carriage bolts (often 10 or more) to accommodate the extra hardware.
