Overhead Double Wheel Trolley (Pressed Steel)

A pressed steel Overhead Double Wheel Trolley (Pressed Steel) (often called a "Double Trolley Assembly") is a specialized hardware component used for overhead slide gates.

Unlike ground wheels that support a gate from below, these trolleys suspend the gate from an I-beam or overhead track, allowing it to "glide" smoothly above the ground.

Primary Uses

  • Overhead Slide Gates: This is the primary use. Two trolley assemblies (each with four wheels) are inserted into an overhead I-beam (commonly a 6" beam). The gate frame is then hung from these trolleys using hangers.
  • Industrial Entrances: Common in high-security or industrial sites where ground tracks are impractical (e.g., areas with heavy snow, mud, or uneven debris that would jam a ground-level wheel).
  • Large Gate Support: Because "double" trolleys feature four rollers (two pairs), they distribute the weight of heavy industrial gate panels more effectively than a single trolley, preventing the gate from tilting or binding.

Key Specifications

  • Material: Made of pressed steel that is galvanized to resist rust and corrosion in outdoor environments.
  • Wheel Configuration: A "Double Trolley" typically features four wheels (two sets of double wheels) for superior weight distribution and a smoother glide compared to single-unit trolleys.
  • Pipe Compatibility: These assemblies are designed to clamp onto standard gate frame pipes, usually ranging from 7$1\ 5/8"$ to 8$2"$ O.D..
  • Track Compatibility: Most industrial double trolleys are specifically engineered to fit 6-inch I-beams.
